Corona Virus Update

March 25, 2020
Dear Friends,
I write this to you wishing we could gather as we have for so long. But for now, we must take care of one another and that means staying home! Let’s be well and let’s be part of tamping down the rise in Covid-19 cases. Let us do all we can to support those who are working in hospitals, our first responders and folks providing groceries and medicine. That means staying home!
As you can see from the schedule below, and my first weekly video message, Rochester and Oakville UMCs, are learning how to be church in different ways. (For those who do not have a computer, I will be sending a weekly information mailing with my Reflection / Message to your homes.) We are calling and checking on one another. We are worshiping and meeting on-line. We are also looking for additional ways to reach those who do not have computers. Calling and notes are good ways. I have also begun a daily prayer time everyone can participate. We pray at our homes or wherever folks are at 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. for five to 15 minutes. We are not together in person but linked by the Holy Spirit!
One of our prayer participants e-mailed me and said she plays hymns in her living room during this prayer time. It is a beautiful image and I am reminded how Jesus Christ links us in so many ways. Where do you pray? Let me know.
We will get through this. I am convinced God will show us the way. In the meantime, call me at 360-909-5802 or send me an e-mail at pbrokaw1@comcast.net. I want to hear how you are doing and how we can help. Call and let’s pray together. I’d also love it if you sent me pictures of how you are spending time in prayer and in worship at home. Are you out walking? Are you in the garden? I’d like to share these photos with our church family.
Sending my love to all of you,
Pastor Pam Brokaw

“If you would decide to come to our church you would find a lively place: A place where people know the love of Jesus Christ and express that love in action. We are a congregation who live out the scripture from Genesis 12 in which the people are told that they are “blessed in order that they might be a blessing to others.”

This is not your dull Sunday morning place. This is a place in which laughter and joy reign. People choose to come here to worship and to serve the community in the name of Jesus Christ because they love Jesus and they love this community.

You probably wonder just how you might fit in. Well here are a few suggestions: Of course try out our 11:00 worship service. Start your Sundays with a free breakfast beginning at 10:00 am and the chance to meet some of your friends and neighbors in the Fireside Room.

Or, you could volunteer to help with the Clothing Closet. We are well established and there is lots of work to be done. Call the church office at 273-5000 to ask how you can help.

We support the local food bank and help with school supplies and that is just a short list of all this congregation does.

We are all blessed to be blessings. Come join us in sharing the many blessings we all have been given.
