Food Bank Support

Reverend Alta Smith, Interim

All Donations Go Directly to the Local Food Bank

During 2010 the Rochester United Methodist Church collected and delivered 2,135 pounds of non-perishable food products, plus much-needed personal care items, to the South Thurston United Friends (S.T.U.F.) Food Bank in Rochester. The congregation also donated just under $2,000 to the food bank to purchase perishable items such as fresh eggs and hamburger.

In addition, 93 holiday food baskets were distributed by S.T.U.F. for Thanksgiving and another 71 for Christmas.

As the number of food bank clients continues to increase due to the current economic environment, in response to a challenge from our Pastor, the congregation has set of goal of 4,000 pounds (or more) for 2011.

Goal of 4,000 pounds (or more) for 2011

We are proud to participate in supporting the Food Bank in their efforts to provide both food and personal care items to those in need within the Rochester area, and pledge to continue our efforts throughout 2011 and into the future.

"If you offer your food to the hungry and satisfy the needs of the afflicted, then your light shall rise in the darkness and your gloom be like the noonday." - Isaiah 58:10
